Self-Care begins with an honest, open self-discussion. Something I call a self-reflexive, self-reflection model for unearthing the parts of the self that are beautiful, inquiring, untethered, unbalanced or balanced. It's a progressive journey, and in no way should you ever expect to "find your answers" in a set timeline. This is a timeless, unpredictable, fun, adventure and should take time. You should allow yourself to openly engage in self-exploration, and enjoy the daily steps, whether they be 5 or 100.

Finding and establishing a healthy Self-Care & Wellness regimen that makes sense in your life and for your state of being is a fluid process. And one that changes, perhaps even daily. We are neve the same person. We wake and have an entire days worth of input to digest and add to our living experience of memories. SO it stands to reason that to create an effective, reflective and personal self-care and wellness plan, we need to so based on who we are today.
The Self-Reflection model that is the foundation of our wellness and self-care workbooks and workshops, is fundamentally a medium you can use to take all of your experiences, thoughts, memories and input and use them to establish your guide. And of course, we are Geeks after all, so yes, we absolutely encourage you to do this by applying the positive messages and lessons we have learned form positive, healing, healthy fandoms, and hobbies. Because why should we look for an external source of to help us connect to our happiness and joy, when we already have amazing fandom resources that make us happy
Stay tuned and take a few moments to read our research theory and review the guides we have uploaded.
We are adding a simple daily self-care agenda you can use for a quick self-reflection!

Emotional and psychological trauma is the result of extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, making you feel helpless in a dangerous world. Psychological trauma can leave you struggling with upsetting emotions, memories, and anxiety that won't go away.
Emotional or Mental Trauma is something that is silent and insidious, that leaves an imprint on the psyche and reasoning process of the person. When we experience a traumatic event: a loss, illness, abusive language, physical abuse, bullying, oppressions, bias, racism, we are left burdened with images, words, thoughts that become part of our reality and leaves us with negative memories.
So is it possible to deflect or re-direct the way our psyche and mind processes these burdens. Up until now, we have had very little resource or guidance to even understand how impactful and injurious these burdens can be.
But it is possible even for small increments of time to help our neurohormonal systems to restructure how we process these "memories" images, and inputs. The brain is a fluid, flexible organ and so are it's neurosynaptic processing systems. If we find and engage in healthy, positive feedback input, we can actually recondition the ay these systems are stimulated and trigger neurons and hormones that lead us on pathways that are positive versus negative. Engaging in healing hobbies and healthy positive fandoms can stimulate and create positive healing memory that can be recalled when we are stressed or worried. Here at DG we help fans to explore and design their own fandom oriented wellness pathways. Because in all honesty it is your experience, so the most effective way to help you create healthy re-direction of those negative memories is to help you engage in hobbies, activities, creative mediums that make you happy, that help you de-stress and smile. When you have healthy resources, like a healing song lyric, quote, character we can reflect on when you are struggling they can become your lifeline and source of joy, stimulating positive neurologic responses to replace and disconnect us from negative thoughts.
